Built From Personal Experience

Spirits Treasure was founded by Jarni Stevens, a whisky collector who has been collecting bottles since 2016.

Like many collectors, Jarni spent years searching online for specific bottles. Finding the right expression, age, release or limited edition often meant searching through multiple websites and auction platforms. Existing platforms did not always make it easy to filter bottles by the details that matter to collectors, such as age, release size, rarity or production numbers.

But there was a more important problem. After personally experiencing fraud while buying bottles online, Jarni saw how vulnerable collectors can be when transactions depend largely on trust between strangers. That experience became one of the main reasons for creating Spirits Treasure.

Collectors should be able to find the bottles they are looking for and trade with each other without unnecessary complexity or unnecessary risk.

Development of Spirits Treasure started in 2024. Over the following two years, the platform was repeatedly redesigned and improved together with trusted development partners, with a strong focus on making the experience clear and practical for collectors. Spirits Treasure officially launched in 2026.

Marketplace and Auctions in One Platform

Collectors do not always want to sell in the same way. Sometimes a seller knows exactly what they want for a bottle and is prepared to wait for the right buyer. At other times, a seller may prefer the competitive environment of an auction. Spirits Treasure was designed to support both.

Fixed-Price Marketplace

The Marketplace gives sellers control over their asking price and allows collectors to purchase bottles directly at a fixed price. Marketplace listings are free for sellers, with no seller commission deducted from the agreed selling price.

Monthly Auctions

Spirits Treasure also operates monthly online auctions for collectors who prefer competitive bidding or want another way to bring their bottles to market. A marketplace listing can be converted into an auction without having to rebuild the entire listing from the beginning.

Built Around Safer Trading

Trust is one of the foundations of Spirits Treasure. Payments between buyers and sellers are handled through an escrow-based payment process. Instead of funds being transferred directly between strangers, payment is secured during the transaction and seller payout takes place after delivery, provided no issue has been reported. Sellers complete identity and payment checks before receiving payouts.

Manual Listing Review

Before any bottle is published on Spirits Treasure, the listing undergoes a manual review. We cross-check the specifications provided by the seller against reliable sources, review the quality and clarity of the product photography, and screen the listing for inconsistencies or missing information that may require clarification. This digital quality check helps create a more transparent and reliable marketplace by giving buyers clearer information about the bottle being offered.

Because bottles are listed and shipped directly by sellers, this review does not constitute physical authentication of the bottle. Sellers remain responsible for providing accurate information, accurate photographs and a truthful description of the item they offer for sale. If necessary, Spirits Treasure may request additional information or proof before a listing is approved.

Buyer Protection After Delivery

Our approach to safer trading does not stop when a listing is approved. Buyers are given time after delivery to inspect their purchase and report a concern. If an issue is reported within the applicable review period, the seller payout can be placed on hold while the situation is reviewed. This gives Spirits Treasure an opportunity to assess the information provided by both parties and help resolve the matter before funds are released.

Our objective is straightforward: create an environment in which both buyers and sellers can trade with greater confidence.

Designed for Collectors

Spirits Treasure was not designed as a generic ecommerce store with bottles added to it. The platform has been developed around the information collectors actually use when searching for a bottle. Depending on the category and bottle, listings can include details such as:

• age
• vintage or distillation year
• bottling year
• bottle size
• alcohol percentage
• limited-edition information
• production quantity or outturn
• bottle number
• packaging and presentation
• condition
• producer or distillery
• provenance information where available

Detailed filters help collectors narrow larger selections down to the bottles that actually match what they are looking for. This becomes increasingly important with collectible bottles, where two releases from the same producer can differ substantially in age, vintage, rarity, condition and production volume.

Five Collectible Categories

By bringing these categories together on one platform, Spirits Treasure gives collectors a single place to search, buy and sell across different parts of their collection.

Rewarding an Active Community

Spirits Treasure also uses Exposure Points to reward active members of the community. Members can earn Exposure Points through certain activities on the platform and by helping introduce Spirits Treasure to other collectors and enthusiasts. The points can then be used for optional features that provide additional exposure or functionality for listings and auctions.

The principle behind Exposure Points is simple: members who actively contribute to the growth of the marketplace should be able to receive additional benefits from the platform as well.

Our Ambition

Spirits Treasure started with a European focus, but the long-term ambition goes further. The passion for a rare whisky, an exceptional bottle of wine, a vintage Champagne, an aged Cognac or a collectible rum is not limited by national borders. Collectors exist all over the world.

Our ambition is therefore to build Spirits Treasure into a recognised European destination for collectible wine and spirits and, when the platform is ready, to expand beyond Europe to connect collectors internationally.

Growth itself is not the only objective. As Spirits Treasure develops, the principle behind the platform should remain the same: make collectible bottles easier to find, make trading more accessible and give buyers and sellers greater confidence when dealing with each other.

Jarni has collected whisky since 2016 and created Spirits Treasure after experiencing many of the same challenges faced by other collectors: fragmented marketplaces, limited search options and the risk involved when purchasing valuable bottles from people you do not know. After personally experiencing online fraud, he began developing the concept that eventually became Spirits Treasure.

Development started in 2024, with the platform being repeatedly tested, redesigned and improved before officially launching in 2026. Spirits Treasure remains founder-led, with its development shaped by the perspective of someone who uses the market as a collector himself.
